A fire pit insert is the burner assembly that turns a masonry or custom-built surround into a working fire feature. Drop one into a table frame and you have a fire table. Set it into a stone surround and you have a built-in fire pit. It is the most flexible way to get a finished feature that matches your hardscaping.

What is the difference between a fire pit insert and a fire table insert?

Nothing, in most cases. The same burner kit does both jobs. What changes is the surround you build around it: a raised table frame at seating height, or a lower stone pit. Every insert kit on this page suits either build.

Which plate shape should I choose?

Shape follows the surround. We stock circular, square, rectangular, and linear plates. Circular and square plates suit a classic pit or a compact table. Rectangular plates fit longer dining-height tables. Linear plates give a narrow ribbon of flame, which works well along a wall or a bench seat.

Match lit or electronic ignition?

Match lit kits are lit by hand at the burner and cost less. Electronic ignition kits start from a switch or remote, so nobody has to reach into the feature to light it. That convenience is most of the price difference between the two.

What do fire table inserts cost?

Match lit kits start at $1,259.99. Electronic ignition kits start at $4,619.99, with the largest rectangular kit at $5,774.99. All eight insert kits here are Crossfire brass burners running on natural gas. Brass holds up outdoors far better than steel, which is part of why these burners carry the price they do.
