Fall and Winter Pond Equipment

Everything a pond needs before the water turns cold. Order online for delivery, or collect at the yard on Ninth Line.

Pond De-Icers and Pond Heaters

Keeps an opening in the ice so gases can escape through the coldest weeks.

Pond Netting and Nets

Goes on before the leaves drop. Leaves that sink and break down are what fouls the water over winter.

Pond Aerators

Keeps oxygen moving into the water when the surface starts to close over.

Cold Water Treatments

Bacteria that stays active in cold water, plus ammonia control for a pond that is no longer filtering as hard.

Pumps and Filters on Special

Upgrade your pond equipment before winter, while supplies last.

Why winterize your pond

Five steps, in the order they are done.

1Treat. Add a bacteria culture made for cold water so the biological filter keeps working as the temperature drops.
2Neutralize. Control ammonia while the pond is filtering less than it does in summer.
3Net. Cover the pond before the leaves drop, then lift the net once the trees are bare.
4Aerate. Keep oxygen moving into the water as the surface begins to close over.
5De-ice. Hold an opening in the ice through the coldest weeks.

A de-icer does not heat the pond. It keeps a hole open in the ice so oxygen gets in and gases get out. That is what lets the fish survive the winter.
